Memorial Day at Madingley Cemetary

The Madingley American Cemetery in Cambridge is one of my favorite places in England, and we got to attend the Memorial Day service there this year. It was such a nice day, and a great reminder of why we are here and the sacrifices that others have made for our country. There were some wonderful speakers at the ceremony, as well as some World War II veterans and/or their families, a twenty-one gun salute, and the always touching playing of Taps. Thanks to all of the men and women who have served our country!

England Adventure with the Mason's - Part II

Our England adventure continued after we left London. We headed to Bath where the boys got to see the Roman Baths, while mom and I did some shopping. We showed them the main sights in Bath and then headed to Stonehenge from there. We just saw Stonehenge through the gates, but it was still really fun - we took lots of goofy pictures and tried to stay dry when it started to rain (of course).

After Stonehenge we headed back to our house and spend the next couple of days exploring in and around our town - we went to base, walked all around Ely, went into Cambridge, saw some Harry Potter sights, and hit up one more beautiful castle before they left. It was hard to see them go on Sunday, but we had such a great time :)

They had the coronation chair from the King's Speech there (because those scenes were filmed at the cathedral), so we all took turns being King/Queen ;)

Thomas and I on base - had to show them the local Taco Bell ;)

Cambridge & Ely

Mom and I took a drive to Cambridge on Friday for a little window shopping and picture taking. I'd worked in Cambridge for my last job, but never been anywhere besides my office and the Tesco next door, so it was nice to explore the beautiful city a little.

This was our kind of store!

Sunday we went into Ely to show mom the cathedral and High Street. The shops tend to close pretty early on Sundays (or not open at all), but we found some shopping and good deals - a successful day!

I am so sad that my mom's visit has come to an end, but we had such a great time this week, and hopefully she will be back this summer with Dad and Drew in tow :) Love you mom!
