Whale Watching in Iceland

Sunday we went on a whale watching tour, which wasn't very different from other boat tours we've been on except that it was FREEZING. I had my now-normal seven layers of clothing on, and the boat also provided us with full bodysuits (see Thomas' picture below), and it was still chilly! The wind was very biting out on the water, but as long as my face was mostly covered I was OK - I just wasn't going to be the one to spot any whales since even my eyes were partially covered. :)  Unfortunately we didn't spot any whales on this trip, but we did get to watch some dolphins for quite awhile. Some of the crew also spotted some porpoises, but we didn't see those. I love seeing animals in their natural habitat, it seems so much different than viewing them in an aquarium.

If you look very closely you can see the dolphin fin in the middle of the picture

Beautiful views from the boat

After whale watching we were ready to head back to our warm, cozy apartment and settle down for the night to watch some football - we are on vacation after all, have to get some relaxation time in there too! :)
